ugh ctv was at school today (i dropped by to see ppl) interviewing students on their reactions to the shooting in virginia... ou know cuz we went through it this year. way to let wounds heal ppl. sigh and what a way for most of the student body to hear about it too.

why are people such god damned monsters and why doesn't the rest of the world have an ounce of tact?

ok mel i totally hate you now
you expect me to sleep!
grrr
lol
so here i go (caution wordiness ahead)

at once insightful and enthralling, the thirteenth tale by diane setterfield both captures the very essence of your soul; mirroring the secret truths inside, the ones long buried beyond consciousness, having made their home snug and secure in the very depths of your soul since the first story of childhood blazed brightly as it made the world sing through you; and leaves you totally bereft, stripping you bare and tangling you in its web to twist in delicious agony with the turning of every page. the thirteenth tale is quite possibly the most resonant novel i've yet to read in my voracious carrier as a literary addict.

These past months have spanned a great breadth of works and genres and i am always hesitant to make a general recommendation (despite my years in retail, selling the true and imagined stories of those great and small that we might better find ourselves by experiencing the minutia of their lives, i never did develop comfort with generalising something which i find to be so personal), however in plunging into the depths of this novel i find myself breaking my own rule, the thirteenth tale is my absolute recommendation for 2006 of the single greatest book to read this year.

"I stil believe in stories. I still forget myself when i am in the middle of a good book. Yet it is not the same. Books are for me, it must be said, the most important thing; what I cannot forget is that there was a time when they were at once more banal and more essential than that. When I was a child books were everything. And so there is in me, always, a nostalgic yearning for the lost pleasure of books."
-The Thirteenth Tale,
Diane Setterfield

Your Birthdate: January 25

You excel at anything difficult or high tech.
In other words, you're a total (brilliant) geek.
It's difficult for you to find people worth spending time with.
Which is probably why you'll take over the world with your evil robots!

Your strength: Your unfailing logic

Your weakness: Loving machines more than people

Your power color: Tan

Your power symbol: Pi

heheheh was playing WOW just now and a priest spawns on top of me(prolly just logged in) and starts to cast something - so im suddenly surrounded by a cascade of pretty white light just as my playlist decides to fuck with me and on queue transitions into navras (track 16 on the matrix revolutions album) its this tribal, electronic fusion with a heavy gothic choir singing sanskrit phrases from the Upanisads, a set of documents used in the Hindu religion , and meditation chants.
the sudden booming gothic choir as the bright white light hit me! lol i fell out of my chair
i love this game
good times
now will someone help me kill bugs in un'goro - i know they are icky, but consider it desensitivity training for ahn'qraj
